1997 Chev Suburban Malfunction - Drive Train & Driveline

Question: recently while driving in 4x4 high i noticed it quit working. i initially checked the fuse panel and noticed the 25 amp fuse was blown. i replaced it and immediatly upon shifting to 4x4 it blew again. i did this twice. i have checked the fluid levels and connections on the transfer case. this is a push button shift on the dash. the truck will go in low range but only the rear drive shaft engages. i would like to know what is causing this. regards.

Technican: Hello, When you checked connections on the transfer case were the wires discolored from heat? Is the connector clean, dry and the weatherpak seal still there? Did the failure occur under wet conditions? Does the wiring harness remain free of chafing on a metal clip/bracket along it's route to the transfer case? Any recent work on your SUV that would factor? I'm going to get a shop manual and see what else I can suggest for you. I'll try to help,
Owner: i did inspect the harness, and i can find no discoloration or obvious wear and tear on the harness. this occured in warm dry weather with no previous indications. my thoughts are the relays in the front axel or transfer case may have given up the ghost? the vehicle has 118, 000 miles on it, but has performed well in the past.
Technican: I'm sorry, I feel like it's taking me too long to get your answers. So far I haven't put my hands on a manual for the 1997. I have one for the 1999 C/K Truck. It deals with two speed manual (BW 4401, BW 4470, NVG 241-NP2), two speed selectable (NVG-243-NP1), and two speed automatic (NGV 246-NP8) transfer cases. Calls for a scanner for nearly everything you test for, codes, open/short circuits, etc. I'll continue to research for you unless you prefer to release the question and see if someone else is faster. I won't take offense. You need help and I understand that.
