1995 Chev S-10 Pick-up Hesitating - Engine

Question: Only hesitats when accelerating under load. While setting still running at 550RPM sounds very good, runs fine. You can run the RPM up 2000 and down 550RPM sound good runs fine, but under load while driving back off the gas then push on gas and you have a loss of power and the engine stops. It will only restart if you push the gas to the floor.

Technican: Hi, When I see a problem like this, I hook up my fuel pressure guage and watch my fuel pressure while I take a test drive to duplicate the problems. I also check for strong spark from the distibutor. If these are good, we should look for issues that can flood the motor. Most likely is a bad TPS sensor. We also see frequent problems with the fuel injector assemblies although they usually do not give this symptom. You can also try disconnecting the EGR valve, it could be sticking or slow. Hope this helps,
Owner: Hi I have tried all the things you sent to me, and this did not help. What I need is the part to plug shop computer in and talk to the 1995 S-10 chev computer. I have the comlpete S-10 wireing harness, but the plug is missing and that is what I need. The S-10 runs fine until you let up on the gas and pushing down again, I think at that time It is getting to much gas.
Technican: You will need to install the DL (data link) connector so you can read what is happening. On the connector; the Pin A black/white is ground, on Pin B, white/black is for flash codes when grounded. Pin M, orange/black is digital data. Get a connector and install these 3 wires and you should be able to read the engine control data with a scanner. Best Wishes,
Owner: Hi, can I buy a new DL plug? I spent most of the day going to three Pull Your On Part business and could not find that DL plug. I think it is part of the wireing harness and the business do not want to be go with such a small order.
Technican: "I suppose it could be ordered through your local dealer. It is not sold through Delco. It should be very easy to find in a junkyard, all fuel injected Chevys, Buicks, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles and GMCs from 1980 to 1995 have one under the drivers side dash. It is a 10 or 12 pin connector wired to the harness and not plugged to anything. (that's where the computer gets plugged in.) "
