1955 Chev 3100 Pick-up Other - Chassis, Suspension & Steering

Question: My 55 chev has 78k original miles. I am in the process of putting in all new brake shoes and wheel cylinder kits. And would a pwr steering conversion kit be a good investment and do they work well and are they safe if installed correctly. TIA.
