2000 Chev Malibu Malfunction - Ignition System

Question: I cannot turn the ignition switch over. It would appear that steering wheel did not lock. I tried to move the wheel back and forth to engage the lock but nothing happened.

Technican: Hi; Sounds like the mechanism that locks the steering got jammed. Only way to fix the problem is to take the steering column apart. You will need a special tool to take the the steering wheel off. It's called a steering wheel spring compressor. Once the steering wheel is off you can then remove the key cylinder and see what is causing it to jam. .
