Technican: Hello, You state that headlights are OK so can we believe the battery has the amps to pass a capacity test? Have you checked to see if a fusable link wire has burned? Can you get a look at the ignition switch connectors and see if there has been a switch failure? What engine do you have, please? What do you mean by "C/G and PK/TURN"? Please advise.
Owner: Hi . Mario here; I found the problem. There is a wire snapped off by the starter; the white casing has two red wires and a black wire coming from the starter #16 is stamped on the casing. Is this a fusable link?. How do i go about fixing or replacing this item.
Technican: Yes, that would be a fusable link. Before you begin repairs, disconnect your car battery negative cable. Fusable link wire CANNOT be spliced if broken. It must be completely replaced. Cut the white casing out of the wiring saving all the length of the RED wires possible. This is simply a factory wiring splice. The Black wire is the fusable link. Obtain fusable link wire at your local auto parts national chain store. It is a special wire and meant to "burn" should a short circuit happen in the circuit it protects. Also, obtain Shrink Wrap wiring repair product to cover and seal your new splices you'll be making. Electrical tape will fail here, so get the shrink wrap. You'll need to solder all connections/splices to ensure a quality and long lasting repair. You may connect/splice both RED wires to a single length of fusable link wire for a single connection to the starter, or connect/splice a fusable link wire to each of the RED wires making two connections for the starter. THE LENGTH OF FUSABLE LINK WIRE CANNOT EXCEED NINE INCHES. This refers to each length of fusable link. If you make a single connection to each RED wire you may use up to nine inches of fusable link for each RED wire. If both RED wires are connected to a single fusable link wire, the fusable link cannot exceed nine inches in length. Install new wire terminals to connect to the starter. Ensure no wires are in harms way for heat or moving parts. Reconnect your car battery.
