1989 Chev Cavalier Stalling - Engine
Question: Car engine dies when almost to a complete stop at trafic lights, stop signs... I have been told it can be the coolant temperature sensor. I bought a new one but cannot find where to replace on the car. Please help with any advice...

Technican: Which engine do you have? Do you have an automatic transmission? Owner: 2.8L V-6. Automatic Trans. I was able to find and replace coolant temp sensor. Haven't had a chance to test drive yet. Please feed me any other suggestions you might have...
Joe Technican: Two common problems come to mind.
First unplug the electrical connector on the transmission and test drive. The TCC (torque converter clutch) solenoid is known to stick and the engine will stall just as if you had a manual transmission and stopped without using the clutch. This is a very common problem.
If this is not the problem clean the throttle body bore and blade, the iac (idle air control valve), and it's passageway. Here's How To Get Guaranteed Solutions In Minutes
