All electrical seems to work when key is inserted and turned to RUN position....
(Gauges all light up... Fuel pump pressurizes...
Interior & Exterior ights function...turn signals & wipers work)
turning the key to the START position does NOTHING!!
(no clicking...no Atempted starting behavior...NOTHING at ALL happns)
it is EXACTLY as if the tranny was in gear (but it is not)
I have tried Neutral and wiggling the column mounted shift lever to see if maybe Neutral start protect switch was stuck.
I was NOT in the car when this happened...second hand description of what happened was that the car TRIED to start but then stopped turning over...Rumors of one small puff of smoke from under hood and then igition switch stopped doing anything.. Cannot gaurentee the smoke happened ..but its what thaey told me.
I suspect a fusible link to the ignition / starter but have NO clue where this link might be UNDER THE HOOD or what it might look like! |
